Villa of the Month - Villa Volpe, Porto Rotondo

Villa Volpe in Porto Rotondo

A prerequisite for any property in our Sardinia villa collection is that it has to be somewhere we ourselves would like to stay with our own family and friends... but we can't help but have our favourites. Those villas you dream about, that come to mind first when you imagine your dream holiday. Villa Volpe ticks all of our boxes for the perfect Sardinia retreat.

The vital ingredient for any holiday in Sardinia has to be the sparkling blue Mediterranean sea and you couldn't get any closer to it than at Villa Volpe. Built on the tip of a small peninsula in Porto Rotondo, the villa's unique selling point is the direct sea access from all sides. The sandy beach at Punta Volpe can be accessed through a rustic wooden gate from the villa grounds, and there's even a sandy stretch inside the gate with sun loungers, a changing room and an alfresco shower so you have your own private piece of Mediterranean beach.

The stunning salt water infinity swimming pool is a new addition for the 2014 season and is the perfect place to relax, enjoy the view over the sea and check out the luxury yachts as they glide by.

Another new addition for summer 2014 is the luxury guesthouse poolside, again with views over the pool to the sea, a living area with fireplace, a double bedroom with French doors to the pool area and a luxury bathroom. There are five other bedroom suites spread over the main villa and a further two guesthouses so there's plenty of space for your nearest and dearest.

The villa was designed by the godfather of Sardinian architecture, Savin Couelle and you can see his love of natural local building materials in the stones and wood beams. The main living area boasts vaulted ceilings and huge windows from which to admire the sea views and even houses a unique indoor wood burning pizza oven.

Maid service is included in the cost of the villa as is our complimentary concierge service, and you can view the full details of Villa Volpe at the link below

Villa of the Month - Villa dei Pini

The perfect family holiday villa, Villa dei Pini is an architect-designed villa located just 15km from Cagliari, Sardinia's capital city.

Walking up the pathway from the electronic entrance gate, guests are sure to be impressed by the villa's facade; the three storey high glass frontage ensures the whole house in light, bright and airy and makes the most of the beautiful mountain views.

The villa is surrounded on all four sides by immaculate mature gardens and there's a selection of covered and alfresco dining and lounging areas. The private swimming pool measures 12x6m and is the perfect spot to relax, unwind and check out those lovely mountain views and there's even an alfresco shower.

It's only once you step through the front door however that you really appreciate the spaciousness of this villa. The large living room is tastefully decorated in a modern style with a large central fireplace. On the other side of the house, the large dining room also benefits from those floor to ceiling windows and is perfect for stylish dinners.

The kitchen is modern and equipped with enough equipment to delight even the most enthusiastic chef and has glass doors leading to an outside patio with a barbeque and wood-burning pizza oven as well as a covered gazebo for alfresco dining.

On the ground floor, the master double bedroom has glass doors leading to the swimming pool area on one side and to the back garden on the other. It also boasts a dressing room and ensuite bathroom with an impressive shower with a sauna function.

If anything, the two bedroom suites on the first floor are even more impressive; both can be set up as either doubles or twins to make sure you and your party are as comfortable as possible. Both bedrooms have the luxury not only of private ensuite bathrooms but also have their own living areas, meaning that guests at Villa dei Pini can either enjoy a little peace and quiet or choose to socialise with the rest of the group in the generous communal areas.

Families traveling with children or teenagers will love the third floor of Villa dei Pini. Whether you bring your own toys and games or prefer to hire one of our X-boxes or selection of DVD's and board games for the week, the kids can claim the whole third floor for themselves leaving the adults of the group to relax in peace and quiet in the rest of the house.

The lower ground floor hosts a separate guest apartment with double bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, living and dining space and a log fire.

Every bedroom boasts a flat screen TV with SKY available on request, and the villa also offers free wifi for those who just can't bear to be too out of touch with the rest of the world.

Just 300m from your front gate you'll find a bar and pizzeria with a children's playground and Poggio dei Pini's beautiful lake is just a short walk away.

The excellent seafood restaurant "Sa Cardiga e su Schironi" is just 4km away, as is the local beach, La Maddalena Spiaggia, a popular hangout for local kite surfers.

Although Poggio dei Pini is a quiet, upmarket residential area, in just ten minutes drive you get to Cagliari, Sardinia's capital city where you can find everything from buzzing nightlife and restaurants to boutiques, museums, botanical gardens, cinemas and art galleries.

Fifteen minutes drive in the other direction will get you to the charming town of Pula where Nora beach and the Roman ruins are especially popular with holidaymakers. A little further down the road and you come to Chia, famous for having some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean.

If that's not enough for you, why not make use of our concierge service to arrange one of our excellent local chefs to cook up a feast with the freshest local ingredients for you in the comfort of your private villa? We can even arrange for a masseur to pamper you, babysitters to take care of the little ones or for somebody to stock your fridge for you so you really can kick back and relax all week.

Villa dei Pini can comfortably sleep up to ten guests and prices run from just 2,500€ to 4,600€ per week and best of all, check-ins are not restricted to Saturdays so you can take advantage of cheaper mid-week flights, even in peak season!

Villa La Roccia, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia

For most people, Sardinia means the Costa Smeralda, the luxurious resort beloved by the world's glitterati.

Located on the North East coast of the island, the Costa Smeralda (or Emerald Coast) owes it's current status as one of the world's most exclusive holiday destinations to the Aga Khan who founded the resort in the 1960's.

As it's so fiercely popular with holiday makers the world over, most areas can get pretty busy in the summer months but the divine villa La Roccia, located just 9km from Porto Cervo is nestled in the rolling hills of Arzachena. The villa offers total privacy and tranquility, but just hop in the car and you can be right in the centre of all the action in minutes.

Offering seven double bedrooms (each one with a private ensuite bathroom), La Roccia is a luxurious private residence for up to fourteen guests, crammed with every possible creature comfort.

Take the decadent private spa area for example, located on-site underneath the main house where you can relax in the jacuzzi, steam room or sauna. Why not book one of our professional masseurs or beauticians to come in and pamper you and ensure you relax and unwind completely.

Guests who want to be able to enjoy that extra helping of pasta or glass of red wine totally guilt-free can make the most of the selection of gym equipment also available for use at the villa. Especially useful as we have some great chefs in the area who will be more than happy to pop in and rustle up a Sardinian feast fit for the Aga Khan himself for you to enjoy poolside as the sun sets over the neighboring hills.

The private swimming pool boast a water feature and divine countryside views and there's a fabulous covered alfresco lounge area poolside complete with sofas and double beds as well as plenty of sun loungers for all.

Lovers of Italian cuisine will adore the outdoor kitchen which is equipped with a barbeque, traditional wood-burning pizza oven, fridge, sink and ice maker and the adjoining covered dining area for candle-lit dinners using the very best Italian ingredients.

Inside the villa offers a wide screen TV with SKY and DVD and of course there's a wifi connection for those who just can't bear to be too cut off from the outside world.

The villa is decorated throughout in the style of Couelle, the godfather of Sardinian architecture and the fragrance from the traditional juniper branches incorporated into the structure gently perfumes the air.

The friendly caretaker and his wife live in a private house on-site and our full complimentary concierge service is just a phone call away so we're always on hand if you need anything at all from restaurant recommendations to boat tours, fridge stocking or just handy tips on the local area.

So why not treat yourself to a week of total relaxation at Villa La Roccia this summer and enjoy the very best Sardinia's Costa Smeralda has to offer.

Prices start from just 6,150€ per week
