Villa of the Month - Villa Orchidea

Although most of Sardinia is very laid back and relaxed holiday destination, the Costa Smeralda and especially Porto Cervo are famous the world over for being attracting the rich and famous. Gwyneth Paltrow, Steven Spielberg, Richard Gere, Naomi Campbell, Rihanna, Paris Hilton and just about every footballer you care to think are just a few of those who spent their summer holidays here last year.

So if you're really looking for a taste of the Sardinian high life, Villa Orchidea is the property for you. We do try not to have favorites, but this villa has it all; breathtaking views, opulent furnishings, gorgeous gardens and total privacy, all within a stones-throw of the boutiques and nightlife of Porto Cervo.

Set between Cala di Volpe and the famous Pevero golf course, the location just doesn't get any better than this; you're right in the heart of one of the Mediterranean's most exclusive spots. Chill out by the pool and enjoy the views over the countryside to the blue, blue Mediterranean sea. The gorgeous Hotel Cala di Volpe (one of the most expensive in the world), designed by the godfather of Sardinian architecture, Couelle, is far below you and completes the unique views.

Inside, the décor is divine; quirky ornaments, colorful coffee-table books and world globes adorn every corner of the villa and the overall feel is of effortless elegance. Each of the four bedroom suites are individually and tastefully decorated, whilst the living and dining areas are the essence of taste and charm.

The interiors and exteriors of the property blend seamlessly into each other thanks to the full-length glass doors in almost every room. The mature gardens are immaculately maintained and full of exotic plants such as bougainvillea, bamboo, Bird of Paradise, banana trees and olives. Due to the privileged hillside location, Villa Orchidea is a secluded property and guests will find the tranquil location totally relaxing.

As well as the private swimming pool, guests can relax on the rooftop solarium; the perfect place to enjoy sunset aperitivi whilst lounging in the jacuzzi. The covered outdoor living and dining area is furnished with comfy white sofas so you can chill out while dinner sizzles away on the huge barbeque.

Villa La Roccia, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia

For most people, Sardinia means the Costa Smeralda, the luxurious resort beloved by the world's glitterati.

Located on the North East coast of the island, the Costa Smeralda (or Emerald Coast) owes it's current status as one of the world's most exclusive holiday destinations to the Aga Khan who founded the resort in the 1960's.

As it's so fiercely popular with holiday makers the world over, most areas can get pretty busy in the summer months but the divine villa La Roccia, located just 9km from Porto Cervo is nestled in the rolling hills of Arzachena. The villa offers total privacy and tranquility, but just hop in the car and you can be right in the centre of all the action in minutes.

Offering seven double bedrooms (each one with a private ensuite bathroom), La Roccia is a luxurious private residence for up to fourteen guests, crammed with every possible creature comfort.

Take the decadent private spa area for example, located on-site underneath the main house where you can relax in the jacuzzi, steam room or sauna. Why not book one of our professional masseurs or beauticians to come in and pamper you and ensure you relax and unwind completely.

Guests who want to be able to enjoy that extra helping of pasta or glass of red wine totally guilt-free can make the most of the selection of gym equipment also available for use at the villa. Especially useful as we have some great chefs in the area who will be more than happy to pop in and rustle up a Sardinian feast fit for the Aga Khan himself for you to enjoy poolside as the sun sets over the neighboring hills.

The private swimming pool boast a water feature and divine countryside views and there's a fabulous covered alfresco lounge area poolside complete with sofas and double beds as well as plenty of sun loungers for all.

Lovers of Italian cuisine will adore the outdoor kitchen which is equipped with a barbeque, traditional wood-burning pizza oven, fridge, sink and ice maker and the adjoining covered dining area for candle-lit dinners using the very best Italian ingredients.

Inside the villa offers a wide screen TV with SKY and DVD and of course there's a wifi connection for those who just can't bear to be too cut off from the outside world.

The villa is decorated throughout in the style of Couelle, the godfather of Sardinian architecture and the fragrance from the traditional juniper branches incorporated into the structure gently perfumes the air.

The friendly caretaker and his wife live in a private house on-site and our full complimentary concierge service is just a phone call away so we're always on hand if you need anything at all from restaurant recommendations to boat tours, fridge stocking or just handy tips on the local area.

So why not treat yourself to a week of total relaxation at Villa La Roccia this summer and enjoy the very best Sardinia's Costa Smeralda has to offer.

Prices start from just 6,150€ per week
